In the immediate, we operate in three niches within the agro sector. These niches are expected to run independently as subsidiaries of Protofos Farm Ltd in the nearest future.
Currently, we cultivate rice on 250-hectare land at Obi LGA, Nasarawa State, and own a leased land for rice farming of about 250 Hectares at Agagbe, Gwer West LGA, Benue State.
Our long-term target is to operate a fully mechanized large-scale rice farm established an Integrated Rice Mill that will enable the organization to run a farm to shelves (Valuechain Processing) framework.
Our focus is to concentrate on the entire components that make up for the production of the Crop-Rice from Cultivation to Processing. We intend to deliberately grow (in stages) into all that entails the value chain of rice and get acquainted with these components that make up the value chain of rice.
Eventually, becoming a rice mill whose Fifty percent (50%) of our raw material is the rice paddy cultivated on our farm. We have begun with the cultivation of Farrow 44 variety of rice paddy. To a great extent, we have an understanding of what it entails to own and run a rain-fed rice farm from small, medium to large – having owned and operated in the past three farming seasons. After our fourth season of rain-fed rice farm, we intend to start experimenting with water-fed (irrigation) rice.
